Atelier · About the House

A young house, with old habits.

N°00 — Manifesto

We are based in Thimphu, surrounded by shelves of well worn notebooks and connected to trusted friends and communities across all twenty dzongkhags. Our journeys grow through relationships, recommendations, and a deep familiarity with the places we call home.

N°01 — Our Manifesto

founders

Travel, written as literature.

ounded in 2026 in Thimphu, the company began as a shared vision between two brothers who believed that travel in Bhutan could be shaped with greater care, depth, and intention.

One of the founders comes from a background in hospitality and tourism, having spent years working closely with hotels, guides, and travellers. Through this experience, he developed a deep understanding of guest service, cultural interpretation, and the subtle details that shape how a journey is felt rather than simply experienced.

The other founder brings a different but complementary strength a focus on planning, coordination, and structure. With experience in arranging and managing tours, he ensures each journey flows with clarity and purpose.

Together, they built a travel house in Thimphu grounded in both lived experience and thoughtful design where hospitality meets precision.

From their base in Thimphu, they continue to design journeys shaped by care, structure, and a deep respect for place.

N°02 · The CO-Founder

Karma, guided by the feeling of coming home.

Having spent much of his life away from Bhutan, Karma came to appreciate what makes it truly special, not only its mountains and culture, but the sense of peace it brings to those who experience it.

Every return home reminded him that Bhutan is a place where life slows down, nature heals, and being present comes naturally.

Through Gangseng Tours & Travels, he hopes to share that feeling with others—not simply to help travellers see Bhutan, but to help them feel it.

Because some destinations are visited. Bhutan is felt.

— Karma Galeg Paljor

N°03 · The CO-Founder

Tenzin Ninjay, shaped by Bhutan’s hotels and mountain roads, building a travel house in Thimphu.

With a background rooted in hospitality and tourism, he brings a deep understanding of guest experience from the way a welcome is offered to the quiet details that define a journey.

Years spent working closely with hotels, guides, and travellers across Bhutan shaped his belief that travel is not just movement, but interpretation how a place is felt, not just visited.

From Thimphu, he continues to refine how journeys are hosted, always returning to the idea that good travel begins with care, timing, and attention to people.

The principles we begin with.

Eight commitments we intend to keep for as long as we exist.

IA single author.

One person writes your itinerary, from the first call to the last farewell. You will know them by name.

IIForty households a year.

A self-imposed ceiling. It is the limit of what we can do well and we intend to honour it.

IIIFriends in every valley.

Every dzongkhag we send you to has a concierge we have personally met, eaten with, and trusted.

IVNo templates.

Every voyage is composed from a blank page. We do not sell packages, and we never will.

VSlow correspondence.

A long conversation precedes every journey. We would rather take six weeks than six hours.

VIHonest pricing.

One figure, no commissions hidden inside. The Sustainable Development Fee is shown, line by line.

VIILocal always.

We work only with family-owned farmhouses, lodges and guides never with foreign chain operators.

VIIIA telephone, answered.

While you travel, the line is open to a human, in Bhutan, who knows your name and your itinerary.

“We have always thought of ourselves as editors first.”
